'Boost' project which has supported more than 400 15-30 year old's in Lynn has secured Government funding to continue into 2025.
Boost supports young people locally to gain skills, knowledge and advice and is helping young people living, working and studying in Lynn to upskill so that they can access new employment, learning and volunteering opportunities.
Since its launch, Boost has made a significant positive impact locally with over 400 young people registering with the project. Of those who has registered, 300 have entered an activity, employability support, training or started a new job. This includes 131 unemployed individuals, 40 assessed as job ready, and 35 now in employment with others volunteering or completed work experience.
Boost began in 2022 as part of the £25 million Lynn Town Deal agreed with the government. Following its success, it will continue into 2025 following the award of £147,000 Prosperity Funding as part of the Government's Levelling Up agenda.
Support offered has included activities such as confidence building, digital and cyber security training, work experience, alongside 1-2-1 assistance. Training has also been provided, such as in management, forklift work and digital programmes
Training, such as management, forklift driving and digital programmes are just some of the training programmes that have been provided to those in employment. The Boost team has been working with a variety of employers across the area, such as Greenyard Frozen and including the more niche businesses such as Arbortec Forestwear, and Sensient Industrial.
The Boost team are looking to engage with more local employers to upskill staff.
Commenting on the additional funding, James Wild MP said:
“Boost is a highly effective project that is making a real difference to over 400 young people lives and helping them realise their potential. Having been funded through the £25 million Town Deal, I welcome the extension of the programme with funding through the governments UK Shared Prosperity Fund so more people can be supported. I encourage local employers to get involved in this inspirational scheme.”
