Following the Brancaster Staithe fire which led to vacant Freebridge Community Housing properties being severely damaged, Freebridge has prepared pans for 12 affordable homes for rent to be built on the site.
From Freebridge Community Housing Brancaster consultation page:
"Hello and welcome to our page dedicated to our proposed development of 12 affordable homes on land formerly known as 1-4 Brentwood, Main Street, Brancaster Staithe.
The site has been vacant for a number of years and in July the houses were severely damaged by a fire that started in the fields to the rear and had to be demolished shortly after. Freebridge had been preparing a planning application anyway and has recently submitted a planning application to the Borough Council of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk for their consideration.
The proposed homes will all be for affordable rent and restricted both now and in the future for households with a strong local connection to Brancaster Staithe. The design reflects the local style and is designed to meet the requirements of the 2025 Building Regulations, achieving a high standard of energy efficiency and keeping running costs low for residents. The homes will also benefit from electric vehicle charging points and solar panels.
As part of the planning process, we are welcoming your feedback on our proposals. This can be done in a number of ways:
In-person:
Plans will be available to view at Brancaster Village Hall, Stores & Post Office from late afternoon on Friday 28th October to Tuesday 1st November, and members of the Freebridge team will be available to speak to in person at the Village Hall on Tuesday 1st November between 3pm and 7pm.
