During an interview with BBC Look East, Health Secretary Steve Barclay confirmed that "QEH is a priority" and that it is "one of five RAAC hospitals where we recognise there is a pressing need."
His comments follow a visit to QEH with James a few weeks ago. Since the Health Secretary’s visit, James has been speaking with Steve and Health Minister Maria Caulfield about issues at QEH including the closure of operating theatres recently. The ministers met with the Treasury yesterday to discuss the new hospitals programme and QEH, and other RAAC hospitals.
When he visited QEH, the Health Secretary told James and the management team that he was reviewing the expressions of interests in order to be able to put proposals forward for a new Prime Minister to take decisions.
Commenting James said:
"I am desperate for a decision that QEH will be selected as one of the new hospital schemes. We are winning the argument and I will continue to make the case with local support. Indeed I spoke to the Health Secretary again last night at the leadership hustings in Norwich.
