During a Public Accounts Committee hearing on the nursing workforce, James raised the QEH and creating more local training places.
He highlighted that the QEH has successfully reduced their nursing vacancy rate down to a record low of 5% through the recruitment of 140 nurses from overseas. These nurses are making an importance contribution to local healthcare. However, he highlighted the importance of training opportunities for people in West Norfolk to support training provisions including for nursing associate apprenticeships.
James talked about the proposals that have been developed for a School of Nursing by the College of West Anglia and the QEH with support of the Borough Council and other local partners.
