James spoke to BBC Radio Norfolk about the Chancellor’s support for families, jobs, and businesses in North West Norfolk including the extension of the furlough scheme, self-employment support, and extension of the £20 a week Universal Credit uplift.
He welcomed the additional support particularly for the hospitality and leisure sector including the 5% VAT cut. New Restart grants of up to £6,000 for non-essential retail and grants of up to £18,000 for hospitality, leisure, personal care, and gyms will support firms to reopen and bounce back.
James also spoke about the balanced approach of strong support for the economy to recover while also needing to fix the finances in the medium and longer term.
