2022 is the year of Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and to commemorate this historic milestone a series of events will be held throughout Norfolk to celebrate the occasion and leave an enduring legacy for our county. Events organised by the Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk
The borough council is organising several events to mark Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in west Norfolk over the four-day Bank Holiday weekend in June.
- The long weekend starts with the borough taking part in the national beacon lighting on Thursday 2 June. Beacons will be lit in Hunstanton and King’s Lynn. There will be live music, on the South Quay in King’s Lynn on Thursday and fireworks to finish the evening.
- On Friday 3 June a Queen's Jubilee Parade will march through King’s Lynn, led by bagpipers and will include cadets, guides, scouts and St John Ambulance. There will be more live music on stage, and a civic service held at the Minster in the evening.
- There will be entertainment for children and more live music in King’s Staithe Square on Saturday 4 June. Also the Alive Corn Exchange will open its doors for free entry to watch a film about the Coronation in 1953, called A Queen is Crowned.
- On Sunday 5 June, The Walks will host a Jubilee picnic and funday, in partnership with the King’s Lynn Lions and Radio West Norfolk.
The borough council has offered support to Downham Market and Hunstanton Town Councils and small jubilee grants were available for groups to apply for to help with events across west Norfolk to mark the historic occasion.
Platinum Jubilee coins presented to west Norfolk pupils
A commemorative coin, to be offered to every primary school child in west Norfolk to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen.
The coin, bearing both the Jubilee logo and the borough’s mayoral crest, has been specially commissioned by the borough council to mark the historic occasion of The Queen’s 70 years of service.
Coins will be presented to all local primary school children during mayoral and ward member visits.

A Royal Salute: A Big Sing
Join for a special musical celebration of Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne, devised by David Stowell and Peter Wilson, featuring the talents of over 1,600 of Norfolk’s schoolchildren, a chorus of 150 voices, the 60-strong Norfolk Music Hub Ensemble, Norca Sistema’s Samba band, the Norfolk African Choir, and including two specially commissioned original pieces of music.
There will be two performances of A ROYAL SALUTE.

Thursday June 30 at 5pm
Entry to the Showground is free after 4pm, so everyone is welcome to come along.
