James welcomed local campaigners to Westminster today to discuss the bid that the QEH submitted for it to be one of the government's new hospital schemes.
During the meeting, which was attended by Duncan Baker MP, the MPs assured campaigners they continue to make the case to ministers and are pressing for a decision on the shortlist. They also discussed the ongoing modernisation happening at the hospital including the new £12.5 million state of the art Endoscopy Unit, and the £3 million West Norfolk Eye Centre.
Campaigners also raised their concerns at the impact on patients and staff of the hospital of the props. James and Duncan agreed to continue to press for a new single phase hospital scheme.
Commenting on the meeting with campaigners, James said:
"The strong community support for QEH is a real strength of our case for a new hospital so it was a pleasure to welcome local campaigners to the House of Commons again. We share an impatience for decisions to be made and will continue to press for the modernisation of the hospital that patients and staff deserve."
