James Wild MP has officially opened King's Lynn Academy's new Sports Suite in front of students, staff, and trustees.
As a result of investment by Eastern Multi-Academy Trust, of which the school is part of, the academy sports hall changing rooms have been refurbished and a new PE classroom has been created. In addition, a new state of the art gym has been added - fully kitted out with running machines, static bikes, rowing machines and a number of weight machines. Both students and staff are able to access the gym facilities outside of school hours, once an induction has taken place.
To mark the opening, a plaque was unveiled by James Wild MP.
CEO of Eastern Multi-Academy Trust, Mr Paul Shanks said
“Our investment in upgrading the sports facilities at KLA has transformed the learning environment for the students and their teachers. Being able to support healthier lifestyles for all of our school community in outstanding facilities is an added benefit we are pleased that we can offer. These buildings will provide modern, fit-for-purpose facilities for pupils for many years to come.”
Alan Fletcher, Principal of KLA, said:
“As a school, we feel particularly fortunate to have great new sports facilities which our students and staff can all access. The new gym, in particular, has proven very popular with our students!”
James who unveiled a plaque in the new Sports Suite said:
"This is a great day for the pupils and staff of KLA, I was delighted to officially open the new Sports Suite and was impressed by the excellent modern gym facilities that Eastern Multi-Academy Trust has invested in, including giving both staff and pupil’s the option to use them outside of school. As a keen runner myself, engaging pupils in sports is essential to encourage them to continue to lead healthy active lifestyles once they leave education.”
