North West Norfolk MP, James Wild, joined Community Action Norfolk’s Volunteering Marketplace held at Alive Lynnsport to praise the difference volunteers make to local communities and to encourage more people to get involved.
James had the opportunity to speak and thank these groups for the vital work they do in the North West Norfolk Community, and learnt more about the demand for these services over the past couple of years. He was hosted by Jackie Cushing, Manager for Community Action Norfolk.
Voluntary organisations that James spoke with included: The Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House; The Magpie Centre; YMCA, SOS Bus; West Norfolk Befriending; Citizens Advice, Norfolk; West Norfolk Transport Project; Norfolk's Cancer Charity, Big C; Stroke Association, Hunstanton; Norfolk Good Neighbours; Motor Neurone Disease Association; Voluntary Norfolk.
One of the organisations he spoke to was the YMCA, SOS bus whose volunteers explained that their work in the community sees it interacting with hundreds of people per week in Lynn.
Commenting James said:
"There are so many brilliant voluntary organisations making a difference to the lives of people across North West Norfolk. This was an important showcase for the opportunities there are for more people to step up and help in their local community. Volunteering is not only rewarding, but it can help with career progression and I encourage people to look at how they can get involved.”
