James was interviewed about the campaign for a new QEH and the Budget.
James expressed his frustration at the delay in announcements on the new hospitals programme.
He said that the Budget was focused on the government’s welcome plans to grow the economy, boost investment, and increase employment rather than announcements on public services. When James met the Chancellor the day before Budget, he was told that the Health Secretary would be making announcements on the new hospitals programme shortly after the Budget. James urged that to be as soon as possible.
James expressed his hope and expectation that certainty will be provided for patients and staff shortly.
