James announced on 22 October that he will be supporting Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP in the Conservative Party leadership contest and to be Prime Minister. He previously backed Rishi in the last leadership as the candidate with the values, experience, and ideas to lead our country.
Commenting James said:
"Given the economic challenges, we need a Prime Minister who can bring stability and confidence to the markets with a plan for the country to help people through this. I backed Rishi before as the right person with the best experience to do that and I am supporting him again."
