On Tuesday, James was given a tour by pupils of Fairstead Community Primary & Nursery School. He was impressed the school council and the pupil’s enthusiasm for improving their school.
During James’ visit he met the School Council where he discussed the importance of leadership and the qualities needed to make positive change and how pupils could do this through their role on the School Council.
Year 6 pupils had the opportunity to participate in a question time experience with James. He was impressed by the well thought out questions about his work in Westminster and the pupils’ passion for a new or improved QEH to be funded.”
Commenting after the visit James Wild MP said,
“I was delighted to visit Fairstead and have opportunity to answer some of the pupils’ questions. Education is so important for improving life chances, and it was great to see the positive impact the links that the school has with the community are making. The school’s leadership has good plans in place for recovery and using tutoring to help pupils to catch up. It was encouraging that many of the questions the pupils asked me were about leadership and how they can make positive change through their roles on the School Council.”
Head Teacher Mr Farthing said:
"It was great to see a Member of Parliament visit a Local Authority school in a deprived area and give our children an opportunity to talk to him about leadership. Our children enjoyed the opportunity to discuss leadership with a member of parliament and demonstrate the improvements we have made at our School"
