As part of his focus on improving opportunities in West Norfolk, James visited Gaywood primary school and he intends to visit all schools in the constituency.
James was given a tour of the school by year 6 pupils Sharon and Hartley, and Headteacher Neil Mindham
Gaywood Primary school is a two form entry school and James saw the impressive facilities including a large field, playgrounds, library, music rooms, and classrooms with working walls and corridors with wall art that supports children's learning.
It was rated Good by Ofsted in its most recent inspection in October 2021 with inspectors finding that "pupils have a rich educational experience at Gaywood Primary. Their learning in class is interesting and carefully planned to ensure they cover a broad range of topics within each subject. This is enhanced by wider opportunities, such as sports clubs and music tuition."
Speaking after the visit, James said:
“It was a pleasure to visit Gaywood primary school and I enjoyed being shown the school by year 6 pupils Sharon and Hartley. The classes I observed saw pupils enjoying the broad curriculum that is offered in a supportive environment which encourages them to learn. By also offering wider opportunities in music tuition and other activities, pupils benefit from a rounded education.”
