Nearly 140,000 people across Norfolk and Waveney have been vaccinated including over 80% of over 80 years olds, James has been told during a regular update with Norfolk and Waveney NHS CCG.
- Up to 24 January, 138,619 people in Norfolk and Waveney have had their first dose, including 58,730 people or 82.4% of over 80 year olds.
- By the end of January, the aim is to have vaccinated all over 80s.
- 79,889 under 80s have received their first vaccination.
- 95% of residents and staff in care homes for over 65s vaccinated.
- 9,012 people have received their second vaccination.
Commenting James said, "The vaccine programme is going well thanks to the great efforts of the local NHS and volunteers. Every jab brings us closer to when we can begin to ease the restrictions and the path to normality."
Norfolk and Waveney is 15th nationally out of 42 both in terms of overall number of doses given and in percentage terms of over 80s given their first dose
Norfolk's Public Health Director also reported that Covid infection rates are coming down in the county which shows that the lockdown is working. However, hospitalisation levels mean the NHS remains under significant pressure and it is important that we continue to follow the rules.
