From Monday 12 June 2023 people and organisations join together to raise awareness of loneliness during Loneliness Awareness Week. Lily in west Norfolk is planning a place to go for support.
Lily, which is managed by the Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk, helps people who are feeling lonely or isolated by supporting them to connect to organisations that can help in the area.
On Saturday 17 June the Lily team will be based in The Place, New Conduit Street, in King’s Lynn town centre to offer support and advice alongside other local organisations from 10am to 3pm.
The asklily.org.uk website features activity guides that have socially distanced suggestions on how to interact with each other safely and ideas on activities people can try.
Over the course of the week our Lily team will be working to raise awareness of the impacts of loneliness through their social channels and will then be inside The Place on Saturday with other local organisations helping people to make connections within the local area.
Other organisations that people can talk at The Place include Park Run, Men’s Shed, Ladies Circle, Round Table, Churches Together and Norfolk Library service.
Follow the Lily Facebook and Twitter feeds, @LilyWestNorfolk, throughout the week for support with combating loneliness.
Lily helps people who are feeling lonely or isolated by supporting them to connect to organisations that can help in the area. People who cannot access the Lily services online can call the borough council switchboard on 01553 616200 and ask for Lily. Residents can also visit King's Court to access the Lily service.
The service offers 1-to-1 support to adults (18+) whose loneliness is the primary issue affecting their health & wellbeing. Clients are supported to:
- Access social activities, volunteering opportunities, community services and assets
- Identify and overcome barriers that prevent them becoming connected
- Reconnect with family & friends and make new connections in their community.
