Lord Parkinson, Arts Minister, has visited North West Norfolk venues, along with James, which received Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport funding during the pandemic.
During the visit Lord Parkinson visited Majestic Cinema, True's Yard Fisherfolk Museum, and Lynn Museum.
Lord Parkinson opened True's Yard Town & Maritime Art Exhibition which features painting from those by Walter Dexter, Henry and Thomas Baines to local contemporary artist Alan Castleton. Many of the images on display are private collections and are not usually on public display. The exhibition is open 11am to 3pm Tuesday to Saturday until 30th August. Admission is free.
The visit gave an opportunity for these local arts venues to talk about how the funding ensured they were able to continue to operate and their plans for the future. Lord Parkinson saw the impressive refurbishment that had taken place at the Majestic Cinema, and the JMW Turner exhibition as well as Seahenge at Lynn Museum.
Commenting after the visit James said:
“It was a pleasure to welcome Lord Parkinson, Minister for the Arts to some of the cultural venues that were supported by the government during Covid. This was an opportunity to showcase what West Norfolk has to offer and for him to hear direct about their plans for the future.”
