At Prime Minister's Question today, James made the case for the proposal for a School of Nursing at the College of West Anglia. He has supported this proposal as a member of the King's Lynn Towns Fund Board who submitted it as part of the Ministry of Housing, Communities, and Local Government's accelerated funding.
This proposal has been developed by the College of West Anglia and the QEH with support of the Borough Council and other local partners. James previously pressed the Department of Health and Social Care in July to support the proposals as part of addressing nursing workforce issues and highlighting the importance of having more training opportunities for people in West Norfolk including for nursing associate apprenticeships.
James said: Thank you, Mr Speaker. King’s Lynn will benefit from the government’s levelling up agenda with the £25 million pounds through the Town’s Fund. Would my RHF encourage ministers to look favourably at proposals for a School of Nursing at the College of West Anglia as part of accelerated to kickstart local training and job opportunities for local people?"
In his reply the Prime Minister said:
"I thank my hon friend. He is an excellent champion for his area and if he can just contain his impatience a bit he may hear something to his advantage and to the advantage of his constituency from his Rt Hon Friend and mine, the Communities Secretary."
