James Wild has enjoyed his first official visit to Holly Meadows school in Pott Row. The visit came after he met some pupils who took part in the Klimate Action art exhibition before COP26.
Improving educational outcomes is one of James’ priorities for North West Norfolk and he heard about Holly Meadows’ commitment to a broad, balanced, high-quality education that inspires, challenges, and encourages their pupils, enabling them to achieve their maximum potential across the curriculum.
During the visit, James was given a tour by headteacher Jennie Wildsmith-Garton and year 6 pupils, which was then followed by a discussion with the School Council about their role including the recent pond project, and questions about James' role as MP for North West Norfolk.
He also enjoyed seeing the excellent outdoor facilities, which included a gardening area, play area, and football pitch which is rented out to the local community outside of school hours.
Commenting after the visit James said:
“It was a pleasure to visit Holly Meadows School and there was a strong focus on giving all children the best opportunities to succeed. As well as the clear emphasis on learning, I was impressed by the various sporting activities on offer which the pupils enjoy including the daily mile.”
Speaking about the visit, Mrs Wildsmith-Garton said:
“The children thoroughly enjoyed showing James Wild MP around our lovely school and telling him all about life as a pupil at Holly Meadows. A group of children also had the opportunity to participate in discussion with him about local, national and even international affairs. It was particularly interesting for them to find out more about the role of an MP and learn more about the world of work."
