Following the Defence Secretary's statement that the government is exploring providing man portable anti-air missiles to Ukraine, James raised the importance and challenges of providing training so this capability can be used to defend Ukraine.
In a statement to the House of Commons, the Defence Secretary announced that the UK has so far provided 3,615 New Light Anti-tank Weapons (NLAW), and continues to deliver more, and will shortly start the delivery of a small consignment of anti-tank javelin missiles too. He further announced that the government had taken the decision to explore the donation of Starstreak high velocity man portable anti-air missiles. The government considers this system will remain within the definition of defensive weapons and allow the Ukrainian forces to better defend their skies.
