James has visited Clenchwarton Primary School, which has been taking part in UK Parliament Week, the annual week where pupils across the country learn more about our democracy, British Values, and the role of government.
James joined their Friday morning assembly, where pupils had devised their manifestos about issues that matter to them, such as equal rights and the environment. Pupils then had the opportunity to ask James questions about his role as MP and ways they could get involved locally to make a difference.
Commenting after the visit, James said:
"UK Parliament Week is a great way for children to learn more about our democracy and what MPs do to represent people, make laws, and hold the government to account. I was very impressed by the pupils' manifestos on issues that mattered to them most, including energy prices and equal rights. The questions they asked me were well thought out and showed a genuine interest and how much they had learned during the week."
