James Wild MP meets volunteers at Hunstanton Helping Hands Hub
As part of his programme of constituency visits, James Wild MP for North West Norfolk met organisers and volunteers at the Hub and Helping Hands, a community project in Hunstanton offering a community cafe to meet and a wide range of support services.
The Hub is the initiative of Hunstanton Town Council and James was taken round by Town Clerk, Jan Roomes, alongside town Mayor, Cllr Michael Ruston and Cllr Adrian Eden. Located on the lower level of Hunstanton Town Hall, the Hub has representatives from Citizens’ Advice available each week offering free, confidential, and impartial advice to local people on welfare benefits, housing, or other issues.
Additionally, Norfolk’s Adult Social Services are present at Hub each month. During James’ visit, he met with the adviser and discussed the week’s theme of conversations and the importance of talking to one another.
Commenting on the visit, James said:
“The Helping Hands Hub is a great community project offering a friendly place where people can meet and make friends, use the community supermarket, or also access advice and support. It was valuable to hear from volunteers and people using the hub about the positive difference it is making locally.”
James also spoke to volunteers in the community supermarket which offers a range of dried and canned food to purchase for 30% less than supermarket prices. Also available is a community café, offering refreshments and the café favourite, sausage sandwich. The menu is free, with a donation box available.
The Hunstanton Community Hub is open Monday and Wednesdays, 10am-12 noon.
