As part of his regular review meeting with QEH, James met Chairman and Chief Executive to review progress on the plans for a new hospital by 2030.
QEH confirmed that work on moving the helipad has started which is a key enabling project to free up the space for the new multi-storey car park.
James also discussed the Diagnostic Assessment Centre which is currently taking shape in preparation to open in the Autumn of this year as part of government investment of £85.9 million for three new diagnostic centres in Norfolk and Waveney. These new centres will provide screening through MRI and CT scanners as well as X-ray and ultrasound imaging, used for diagnosis and monitoring of a very wide range of conditions, including cancer, heart disease, stroke, respiratory diseases, trauma, musculoskeletal diseases, neurology and COVID.
James was also briefed by the research and innovation team on projects taking place at the hospital to deliver patient care outcomes.
