Newly elected James Wild MP visited the Queen Elizabeth Hospital today (10th January) to talk to staff and see the facilities.
James toured the newly opened emergency care unit as well as other departments, and thanked staff and management for their hard work and determination during a difficult time with A&E pressures. Despite unprecedented demand and flu cases, the whole team have been resolute in continuing to provide good service for patients - with a smile. James also said a huge thank you to the fantastic cleaners, porters and infection control teams for their hard work after an incredibly challenging few weeks.
James has pledged to secure more funding for our local hospital.
After the visit, he said:
"I've just spent the morning meeting with staff and the management to thank them for all the hard work they've been doing over an intense period particularly in A&E.
[I] met with the matron in charge of A&E and thanked all of the porters, cleaners and infection control teams who've helped deal with the huge demand that the hospital's faced and I've also seen the new Emergency Care Unit facility which opens on Monday which should help manage that demand.
What's come across from all of the teams, the maternity team and others that I've met is a real passion to deliver the best care for patients.
[There's] a real sense of teamwork and a determination to improve the services that are offered.
The commitment I've given to staff here is to work in Westminster to secure the investment that will enable them to continue to improve the service and deliver for the people of West Norfolk and beyond."
