On Friday, James joined the College of West Anglia principal David Pomfret and students from both the college and local schools to host an event on democracy and his role within Parliament.
Over 100 students attended the event, which included pupils from Thetford Academy and Dereham Sixth Form College. The event was organised in collaboration with the Youth Advisory Board (YAB) and the College of West Anglia to help young people in the community build their understanding of local government and key British Values.
James hosted a talk covering the history and types of democracy, the importance of voting, the constitution, and law-making amongst many other subjects, as well as his role within Parliament.
James said "First and foremost, my responsibility is to represent my area, continue to fight for funding for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and more generally, things that will make West Norfolk a better place to live, work and visit."
Following the talk, College of West Anglia Student Governor Jacob Morton asked James a number of pre-submitted questions from the student body, which covered subjects such as exams, Free School Meals, Brexit, and climate change.
College of West Anglia Principal David Pomfret said ,"This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to understand politics and learn about ways in which they can engage politically. James has been instrumental in supporting the successful bid for a new School of Nursing, which is collaboration between ourselves and the QEH, and we hope to work with James' office in the future closely to champion positive change within education and the wider local communities that we serve."
