On Wednesday, James visited St. James' Medical Practice to meet and thank the practice team and volunteers who were one of the first GP sites to begin vaccines in December. Over 7,000 people have had their first jab at St James.
St James has played an important part in hitting the 15 million milestone of the top four priority groups being offered their first jab and administered over 7,000 vaccines.
James was pleased to meet the volunteers who ranged from hairdressers to retired GPs and furloughed staff who are helping with stewarding, giving vaccines, providing administrative support to organise sessions and upload data.
Speaking after the visit James said: "It was a pleasure to talk to the practice team and volunteers and thank them for all their efforts so far as part of achieving the successful target of delivering 15 million jabs. I also encouraged them to keep going as the challenge now is to maintain the pace to jab the next priority groups. There were lots of smiles even if people are understandably tired so showing support for them is important."
New figures released show that up to 14 February:
- 297,668 people in Norfolk and Waveney have had their first dose
- 68,176 people over 80 year olds have had their first dose.
- 50,019 people aged 75-79 have had their first dose.
- 64,488 people aged 70-74 have had their first dose.
- 114,985 people aged under 70 have had their first dose.
- 10,048 people have had two doses
